Symbicort (budesonide; formoterol fumarate dihydrate) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Symbicort (budesonide; formoterol fumarate dihydrate)

SYMBICORT (BUDESONIDE; FORMOTEROL FUMARATE DIHYDRATE): This product is used to control and prevent symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma or ongoing lung disease (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-COPD, which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema). It contains 2 medications: budesonide and formoterol. Budesonide belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing the irritation and swelling of the airways. Formoterol belongs to the class of drugs known as long-acting beta agonists. It works by opening airways in the lungs to make breathing easier. Controlling symptoms of breathing problems can decrease time lost from work or school. When used alone, long-acting beta agonists (such as formoterol) may rarely increase the risk of serious (sometimes fatal) asthma-related breathing problems. However, combination inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta agonists, such as this product, do not increase the risk of serious asthma-related breathing problems. For asthma treatment, this product should be used when breathing problems are not well controlled with one asthma-control medication (such as inhaled corticosteroid) or if your symptoms need combination treatment. Before using this medication, it is important to learn how to use it properly. This medication must be used regularly to be effective. It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks. If an asthma attack occurs, use your quick-relief inhaler (such as albuterol, also called salbutamol in some countries) as prescribed. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

None for first 24 Hrs then what felt like a heart attack; severe upper abdominal pains, cramp, nausea, flatulence. Waking two or three times in the night in extreme discomfort as though someone has stabbed me in my back, stomach and chest whilst asleep. After 4 days the infected cyst has reached the size of half a tennis ball and only just started to decrease in size.

Not the strongest thing out there to knock you out. You have to lay down, relax, and it will gently rock you to sleep. I stayed asleep while taking it, while as with other drugs (ambien) I would wake up around 4am and be up. Didn't get the hang over associated with ambien in the morning either. I was on it steadily for months, I think about 4, and quit without a problem. Now I take it maybe once every 3 weeks, when anxiety hits me at night and I'm unable to sleep.

Episodes of severe itching from within my body, accompanied by nausea. Now with skin itching and edema like sun poisoning. This occurred six hours after taking the niaspan before bedtime. I took 325 mg of ASA an hour before as directed. This itching is more unbearable than the anaphylactic reaction I had to a food allergen. I just can't stay on something that makes me feel this bad. My HDL is really good- 99- and I can't take statins or zetia either- muscle pains. I'm preparing to either give up and hope I don't stroke out or cut meat out of my diet altogether.

Insomnia, hallucinations, vivid dreams, droggy feeling, tiredness nausea..

I have experienced quite a bit of weight gain since starting BUSPAR eight months ago. I was orginally prescribed 1 white "pillow" three times a day, but have cut back to only one in the morning in hopes of slowing my rapid weight gain. Since I have cut back my dosage the positive effects of the medication are no longer noticed.

It hasn't gotten rid of the voices entirely but it has allowed me to have relationships with people and trust others to an extent. It has improved my life a great deal. I used to be unable to go out due to extreme paranoia about others. The drug has certainly helped in that regard.

Has improved my HDL where Crestor and Zetia did not. Lowered triglycerides and LDL enough to make my doctor satisfied. I have very high total cholesterol normally (over 400) due to familial hypercholesteremia.

I found other reasons to explain these side effects...the worst was the memory loss---SCARY--I found this site and realized--IT WAS THE DIOVAN----I've been off it for 6 weeks, AND FEEL GREAT !!I WILL NEVER TAKE IT AGAIN---NATURAL SUPPLEMENTS ARE THE WAY TO GO !! Please look into them. THANK-YOU FOR THIS SITE !!!

I have year round allergies. My Dr. prescribed over the counter Zyrtec 10 mlgs 1 a day for year round allergies. I'm not one to take medication so I took it only when I felt I needed it. I took most of medication during the day and noticed with I took the first dose it made me feel anxious and my heart started to race a bit.. Can't take any decongestants because it makes my heart race. So I thought this was okay to take. Took it on another occasion at around 6 in the evening. When I went to bed around 10 and laid down to go to sleep I felt very nervous and anxious. Took my heart rated and it felt as though I was out jogging, About 4 in the morning my heart rate finally slowed to normal. Took the bottle to my Dr. and told him to put it on my allergy list. My do not take list.

Because Lyrica is not approved for GAD in Canada, there is not a lot of info out there with regards to this off label use. My doc started me on this drug at a low dose of 25mg/day in an attempt to get me off of the 1mg of ativan that I was on. The 25mg didn't help so I was bumped to 50mg and then to 100mg. This drug is funny and I'm unsure what side effects belong to the Lyrica and which belong to my benzo withdrawal. I have noticed that I worry less about most things in life. I used to have anxiety attacks at the drop of a hat. The one thing that I MUST STRESS is that if you drink alcohol, DO NOT TAKE THE LYRICA UNTIL THE BOOZE IS OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM. I had two separate experiences where the day after was complete hell. Incredible anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. I am curious to see what the effects of this med will be once I am off of the Ativan. I don't plan on being on this med for longer than a few months. Fingers crossed that I won't have too much trouble coming off of it. Might be a case of out of the pot and into the fire.
