Side Effects for Singulair (montelukast sodium)

SINGULAIR (MONTELUKAST SODIUM): Montelukast is used regularly to prevent the wheezing and shortness of breath caused by asthma and decrease the number of asthma attacks. Montelukast is also used before exercise to prevent breathing problems during exercise (bronchospasm). This medication can help decrease the number of times you need to use your rescue inhaler. This medication is also used to relieve symptoms of hay fever and allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, stuffy/runny/itchy nose). This medication does not work right away and should not be used to treat sudden asthma attacks or other breathing problems. This drug works by blocking certain natural substances (leukotrienes) that may cause or worsen asthma and allergies. It helps make breathing easier by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the airways. For me, the benefits clearly outweigh the side effects. When I periodically go off Claitin-D, I sleep through the night but feel tired all day and can't touch alcohol or I get a SEVERE sinus headache an hour or two later. After several days of being constantly foggy, groggy, congested, and miserable, I always go back to the Claritin-D and feel better immediately. From reading this thread, it appears you either love it or hate it. I agree there are side effects, but haven't found anything else that works (for me).

At altitude, tingling in my hands, feet and legs. Light-headedness, fatigue, shortness of breath (I assumed at the time these were caused by altitude and thin air). About 11-12 days AFTER stopping Diamox, I suddenly started experiencing blurry vision at medium to long distances (trees and objects are blurry, can no longer read signs at more than about 50 feet, faces of people more than 20 feet away are blurry, nearly unrecognizable). Most worrisome is that it's been 3-4 weeks since I stopped taking Diamox (and about ten days since I first got the blurry vision) and my blurry vision is still just as bad as it was at the start, if not worse. Should I be worried? Anything I can do to speed up the recovery time?

This medicine really gets a bad rap. ut if you take it the way it is prescibed it can really help. Do not just take what you think you need. Follow the doctors way. And you can get great results.

Feeling weak and tired for about the first 2 weeks (after eating) Has went away in the past week of continuing treatment

Anxiety, insomnia, paranoia, dizziness

I have been on ovcon for only 3 cycles. It made me feel like I constantly had the flu. I felt like utter crap. I have been to my doctor 3 times for swollen glands. My husband finally threw pills away mid cycle. Guess what? I feel great.

fatigue, moodiness, lower back pain, bloating

this is the first birth control i've taken ever. at first i was nervous to stick with a birth control option due to side effects but after having my second child i knew i didn't want anymore babies. i was very hormonal after my second pregnancy and didn't really give my body time to adjust to getting my hormones back to normal. i was very pleased to have expected periods, my periods only last about 4 days very light, and i did not see any weight gain or loss although i eat anything i want. i also didnt notice an increase in breast size either. although now im having extreme saddness, anxiety, and even though i have a happy life i can't seem to feel happy. its affecting me and my relationship with my babies father because everything he says i get offended, i constantly feel like he does not love me even though he is always home after work and buys me everything. i even got a prescription for depression but the side affects are way worse and the reviews for depression medicine ruined peoples lives. im thinking of getting off loestrin because i think this is where my problem is beginning. its just sad because i love knowing im not pregnant! but i feel pregnant everyday anyways so ill decide what to do. i might switch to para guard even though its painful to insert hormones are not for me... :(

My MD recommends Using one time after intercourse. Works great. Would rather prevent it than deal with it. Has anyone else tried this?
