Side Effects for Indomethacin (indomethacin)

INDOMETHACIN (INDOMETHACIN): Indomethacin is used to relieve pain, swelling, and joint stiffness caused by arthritis, gout, bursitis, and tendonitis. It is also used to relieve pain from various other conditions. This medication is known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking your body's production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. This effect helps to decrease swelling and pain. If you are treating a chronic condition such as arthritis, ask your doctor about non-drug treatments and/or using other medications to treat your pain. See also Warning section. The aciphex worked great to quell the stomach pain I was having due to the ulcers. I felt great and pain free for 2 weeks. Then I developed watery diarrhea, lower abdominal aching, difficulty eating because I would feel full quickly and my gut was just achy. I was tested for all sorts of things but all tests were negative. My GI doc first took me off carafate (which I was taking 4 times a day) and when my symptoms were unchanged, he said to stop the aciphex for a week then slowly add it back in. I was finally feeling almost normal after the week off of aciphex so I didn't start back up right away. A second week went by and I was feeling so much better. Now I started back every other day and I'm having bouts of stomach pain, gas, intestinal distress and loose stools😫. Going to stop taking it and try an OTC PPI.

At first stomach ache, but after a few weeks it went away. definatley weight gain 15-20 lbs.

Everything seemed wonderful--light periods, less cramps, stable emotional levels, brest size increase, no weight gain--until I realized that I had lost my LIBIDO! I am a newleywed who thought that lack of interest in sex was due to new location, new job, new life, etc. Now that things have toned down and I'm not stressed, I find myself without any sexual desire for my husband. :(

I was not sure it was the drug until taking the 5th pill. I have not taken a pill in 15 hours and I see a subtle improvement in my symtoms. I have never had a reaction to any drug and will NEVER take this drug again. I had to take pyridium to relieve the symptoms of macrobid! It strangely mimicks UTI symptoms. Trust your body.

My chest hurts inexplicably which I think it due to severe acid reflux. I went to the emergency room one night recently because I thought I might be having a heart attack. It wasn't a heart attack but probably severe acid reflux combined with a panic attack. I also had an outbreak of a rash for a few weeks on my face and neck and torso. Never had any of these problems before Lamasil. I'm convinced all of them are related to Lamasil. Also my jock itch did not go away.

During the first few weeks I had genital numbness and headaches the third week I discovered that if I took the med just before bedtime it took away the numbness and the headaches also went away. However, I did notice that the caffeine headaches went away

I was not depressed yet, but very high stress with my job was causing my thoughts to race and temper to flare noticeably more often than normal. I was drinking more than is healthy and starting to lose interest in some aspects of life. Almost immediately, I am much more patient with my kids and wife which, along with the need to focus better on my job, are the main reasons I'm taking this. I am hoping not to need this long term, so some of the posts about withdrawal are a little scary.

Phew!! I thought it was just me! I am contacting my doctor today to change meds. I have been having what seem like panic attacks and some mania, too. Racing thoughts and a feeling of impending doom. I am also having some strange shoulder pain which feels like a restriction...thought I was having a heart attack. I am 41 and in good shape, so concerned it is related to the med.

Increased mental clarity and focus. Still have the challenge of getting things done. When I've tried stopping dosage for half a week I caught myself doing the pre-ADD dumb stuff that didn't make any sense or tended to sabotage my day. Presently complementing my strattera dose with brain chemicals: gingko biloba, ginseng, acetyl L-carnitine, phosphotidylserine, fish oil capsules, and herbal formulas. With no added side effects. Of all these, probably fish oil makes the biggest difference for brain/heart health.
