Side Effects for Zoladex (goserelin acetate)

ZOLADEX (GOSERELIN ACETATE): Goserelin is used in men to treat prostate cancer. It is used in women to treat certain breast cancers or a certain uterus disorder (endometriosis). It is also used in women to thin the lining of the uterus (endometrium) in preparation for a procedure to treat abnormal uterine bleeding. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of treatment. Goserelin is similar to a natural hormone made by the body (luteinizing hormone releasing hormone-LHRH). It works by decreasing testosterone hormones in men and estrogen hormones in women. This effect helps to slow or stop the growth of certain cancer cells and uterine tissue that need these hormones to grow and spread. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

I was blessed, no issues with this drug. It did what it was suppose to do but my new doc does not believe that I should try it again to shrink the fibroids. She believes that if your body is not ready for menopause this drug will not help. Also some research on my own shows that once Lupron Depot wears out of your system and everything kicks back in, that your tumors may be escalated in their growth. I don't know if this is true, but keeping my eyes open.

When I wrote my first entry it was in the early morning and I had been hurting for almost 30 hours. When I woke-up a few hours later, the pain in my back had worsened and now had migrated to my chest and my right arm was slightly numb like when you barely hit your funny bone in your elbow. I had talked to a different doctor than my usual doctor and told her of my symptoms and that they were getting worse. She didn't appear too concerned and told me to take something OTC for pain. I had had a collapsed lung 12 yrs. ago and the pain was similar to that. I also wondered if I was having a heartattack. I decided to go to the hospital. Luckily I was admitted to the cardiac unit and they did several tests and after giving me a CT scan of my chest using a dye, it showed that I was in the beginning stages of pneumonia. I found a UK site which lists pneumonia as being a very rare side effect of Cozaar. So please, if you have severe muscle pain in your back, ask your doctor to order you to have a CT scan using the dye and make sure that you don't have pneumonia. This ia an extremely dangerous drug that should be taken off the market.Right now, I'm very scared and I'm hoping that this is all that will happen to me.

I was taking Nasacort (triamincinolone), with really good results, and for apparently no reason, my doctor prescribed Fluonase one time instead. I immediately had lots of dry mucus in my nose, almost always with some blood mixed in. The feeling of stuffiness that had disappeared with Nasacort returned a litle as well.

seemed to reduce pain but after taking several days began to have lower back ache

At first this med decreased my ability to climax but after several weeks I regained the ability and experienced increased sexual desire, very surprisingly. I do experience some flu-like symptoms occasionally (almost like a fever, although I don't have a fever).

Now 7 years into this illness, I take a total of 5grams a week which keeps my levels within parameters, except Hematies which, at 6.380.000/ul, is slightly above max. Just had a phlebotomy, usually have one every 6 months. This year no itchy legs, Doc says it's because I've been sunbathing every day, something I never used to do. Never had the side effects other users have, maybe I'm just fortunate.

I was given Biaxin for a sinus infection. I had already been given the Z pack two times but still have the infection. The first day of taking it I had lots of gas, and diarrhea. I took a imodium and that helped the diarrhea. The next day I woke up and was weakand so depressed. I took another with food and I started having bad stomach cramps. By the evening I was crying and leaning over the trash can trying to vomit but could not because I was not able to eat all day. I haven't taken anymore of the pills I am feeling better but I still feel a burn in my stomach.

itches so bad after I put it in, but during the day after i've showered i've noticed my yeast infection is going away (hopefully) so I'm going to continue with my last two nights left.

My side affects were that it killed the infection almost instantly and I feel better than ever!

After two weeks, am still on it hoping better therapeutic effects will emerge. The side effects have subsided somewhat - less of a foggy head feeling but still somewhat fatigued and still getting strange sensations in my chest/heart.
