Side Effects for Alli (orlistat)

ALLI (ORLISTAT): This medication is used with a doctor-approved exercise, behavior change, and reduced-calorie diet program to help you lose weight. It is used by certain overweight people, such as those who are obese or have weight-related medical problems. Taking orlistat can also help keep you from gaining back weight you have lost. Losing weight and keeping it off can lessen the many health risks that come with obesity, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a shorter life. Dietary fats need to be broken down into smaller pieces before the body can absorb them. Orlistat works by blocking the enzyme that breaks down fats in your diet. This undigested fat then passes out of your body in your bowel movement. Orlistat does not block the absorption of calories from sugar and other non-fat foods, so you still need to restrict your total intake of calories. I LOVE Abilify. I took this medication for 3 years. This drug made me "the most normal I've ever been" to quote my mother. I do however dislike some of the side effects. I gain weight very quickly on Abilify and experience intense food cravings. I found that cutting out all processed foods and sugar helped me to stabilize my weight and stop the food cravings. Unfortunately, no matter how healthfully I ate, my cholesterol went through the roof. Even on a vegan diet my cholesterol was out of control. The Dr. took me off Abilify due to it causing an increased cholesterol level. I'm hoping my new med will work as well as Abilify with less side effects. If you take this medication, even if you have no noticeable side effects, please make sure your doctor checks your bloodwork at least 4 times per year.

Face felt like it was on fire, ran a fever and couldn't sleep

depression, headaches, uncontrollable eating, bloating, nausea, problems with acne, lack of sleep, uncontrollable crying.

I started taking this bc my Paragard IUD has given me terrible acne and very heavy periods. But the IUD is a great birth control so I continue taking it. I started Junel 1 year ago and can now give an honest review of it. The first month was hell! I experienced a period the entire month along with cramps. I stuck with it though since I've read many reviews about your body taking time to adjust. After that initial hell, it's been great. My acne, which used to cover my whole face, is down to 1 blemish every now and then. My acne scars are going away and I don't even wear makeup anymore. My periods are very regular. I have my period the 3rd week of the pack, which is odd but it's consistent that way. Periods do usually last the whole week but they are not heavy anymore. All except for a few days I can get away with just wearing a panty liner. I did not gain much weight. Maybe 5 pounds but I'm a skinny person and look healthier now instead of "too skinny". One thing I have learned and cannot emphasize enough is for the love of God do not miss a pill. I have all alarm on my phone that goes off at the same time everyday and still managed to miss a pill. This has happened 3 times in the last year and it messes everything up. If you miss a pill, you will have a period for weeks. I keep mine in my purse now since my purse is everywhere I am. That way if I'm out at dinner when the alarm goes off I don't forget by time I get home. It's always with me. My alarm goes off at 6 pm

This medication gave me energy I didn't have before and improved my outlook quite a bit.

Racing heart, headaches, very tired. Lower back aches, shoulder pain. Dizziness.

For the first few weeks and sometimes thereafter; I get like a "neurontin moment". I am totally spaced out, not sure what I'm doing, where I'm going, or what's happening around me. Severe at first; after a few weeks doesn't happen as often

Night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, bloating, depression, insomnia

EXTREME UPS AND DOWNS.........TOO EXTREME FOR ME PERSONALLY. MAYBE SOMEONE ESLE FEELS THE SAME WAY, I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD FEEL BETTER, BUT I DO TODAY NOW THAT I GOT OFF THIS STUFF AND DONT TAKE ANYTHING AT ALL
