Talwin nx (naloxone hydrochloride; pentazocine hydrochloride) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Talwin nx (naloxone hydrochloride; pentazocine hydrochloride)

The only time that I experienced any side effects is when I miss my regular dose; which is 1-2 tablets every 6 hours PRN for pain. I usually only take one in the morning, and one before bedtime.

I was originally prescribed Talwin NX for degenerative back pain. Although it doesn't help my back pain very much, it sure does work well for Arthritic shoulders & joint pain. I seem to be tolerating the (generic) {Pentazocine-Naloxone} much better than any other pain medications. Since I can't tolerate Lortab, Percocet, or even the Fentanyl Patch; my options are very limited. When I first started taking this medication, I thought it wasn't working at all. I stayed on the medication and gave it a chance to see if it was going to take awhile to kick in. The only thing I know for sure is; if you have joint pains that ache and throb deep down in the socket, this med should kick the pain right out. It also helps me to sleep. I've never had horrible dreams like some have! When I miss a day or two without it, that's when I start having problems! My head will feel crazy and disoriented. I'll get chills and then I'll start sweating. I believe I'll have to wean off this medication, as with most pain medications. Since I need some sort of pain management, I'll have to stick with Talwin NX. My body fights against me all the time. It knows it's in pain, but it rejects all of the pain medications which are probably stronger and better. I'm in a rock and a hard spot! :-)

PAIN CONTROL - SEVER ENDOMETRIOSIS

TERRIFYING VERY REAL DREAMS/NIGHTMARES, "ON-EDGE/MANIC" FEELING, A LITTLE GI UPSET BUT IF TAKEN WITH FOOD THIS IS LESS, INSOMNIA, SMELLED FUNNY ODORS THAT NO ONE ELSE SMELLED

I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY SEDATION WITH TALWIN NX. TASTES TERRIBLE - DON'T LET IT SIT ON YOUR TONGUE AT ALL! WORKED OK FOR MY PAIN CONTROL AND I WAS ABLE TO GO TO WORK SINCE IT WASN'T SEDATING. HOWEVER, I REALLY REALLY DIDN'T LIKE THE VIVID NIGHTMARES IT GAVE ME. I WAS AFRAID TO GO TO SLEEP.

It is sedating, as any narcotic is, but doesn't seem to interfere with breathing.

I can't take NSAIDs, so this is the best pain medication I've used thus far. It lasts longer than hydrocodone or codeine, so I take less and get more relief.

This makes me little shakey in the beginning but you will be fine if you eat enough food. It can give you euphoria and make you feel a little displaced but other than that it works well for my pain.

I like it... it helps me a lot better than two hydrocodone 7.5/325 and even two percocet 5/325. It keeps me awake too late sometimes at night if I take it in the late afternoon or anytime in the evening or at night. The most I've ever taken in one day is 3-1/2 pills, I think, and that is not often. I usually only need 1 or 2 a day to control the pain the best and keep it in the 1-3 range rather than 8-10 range of the pain chart.

I switched from Percocet, which made me sick to my stomach. This was a good pain controller and minimal side effects.

This medication caused a very dizzy and disoriented feeling. Not the kind usually associated with Narcotic pain killers.

This medication is a rather weak pain killer and when taken in excess can cause nausea and mild hallucinations. Be carful exceeding reccomended dosage.

I don't know why people rave about this drug. Every time I have taken it, no matter what the dosage, I end up with a massive raging headache and an inability to hold down any liquid. Not to mention, I can't sleep either- no euphoria, no high, just...awake...and then when I finally do sleep,I wake up with the headache/nausea combination.I refuse to ever take this med, no matter what kind of pain I'm in

This drug literally ruined, and is still ruining, months of my life. I am now on Clonazepam and Abilify and still severely depressed; I can't seem to enjoy any of the things I used to and all I want to do is lie in bed. My sense of self-worth is still gone and everything seems hopeless. I used to be a very cheerful, positive, roll-with-the-punches sort of person, and now she has been replaced by a humorless wreck. I'm amazed that an antihistamine could do this, and that given the number of similar stories here, that the drug company denies that it could cause these problems. Obviously, it does, and more warning should be given to patients about the potential disaster this drug can make of your life. I so wish I could go back in time and never put this horrible substance into my system.

Three significant episodes of severe cramping (feels like early stage labor pain)coupled with severe lower back pain. Also, spotting/bleeding almost everday during this first month of use. Slightly lowered libido, although when I finally find time for sex, I've had multiple orgasms. Hoping my body will adjust quickly.

Horrible sweating. Sweating to the point of soaking my clothes and having to change the sheets. Difficulty sleeping for more than 3 hrs or so, constipation, vivid dreams, increased anxiety, depression after stopping medication.

On day 5 with zero side effects..thank you Jesus! 🙏🏽

Extreme exhaustion, feeling like I am not in life but out of body looking out. constipation, sleeping 18 hours a day and just depressed.

Either the doctors did not know what they were doing when the Suboxone first hit the shelves or they didn't care. My doctor would charge me more than any other patient just for the Suboxone treatment at $200 each appointment plus my insurance would never cover the Suboxone at all and I was paying at least 200 to $300 a month just for the Suboxone. It's way cheaper to stay on Street opiates and I believe less harmful but that's just my opinion. I also had a doctor telling me he could no longer prescribe Suboxone to me because he did not renew his certificate and just threw me out on the street. Most doctors care more about their pocketbook then they really care about their patients and I hope someone sues the pants off the maker of Suboxone someday I will definitely jump on board!

haven't had a period in 44 days (and I had just gotten my cycle straightened out!). The lethargy has let up a bit, but I do make sure to exercise at least 3 times per week, so that helps also.

much easier to take if you heat it and add bullion

I know it works for other people.
